Samsung Pay
Make quick in-store payments with Samsung Pay and your prepaid card

Simple setup, easy payments

Ready to tap?

Get started in seconds by downloading the Samsung Pay app on your Galaxy device and registering an eligible1 prepaid card.

With Samsung Pay, you can access a convenient way to use the funds on your prepaid card for everyday in-store purchases. Now, using your prepaid card is as easy as pulling out your Galaxy phone or scanning a compatible Samsung device.

Securely pay with a tap

Forget your physical prepaid card at home. Now, thanks to Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, you can easily pay for items in-store with a tap of your Samsung device. Once your prepaid card is enrolled, simply open the Samsung Pay app, hover your Galaxy device over the terminal, wait for the beep, and then authenticate the transaction on your device with a tap of your finger or scan of your iris.

When using Samsung Pay, purchases made with your prepaid card will no longer require a prepaid card number and other information from your card. Instead, Samsung Pay leverages tokenization and authentication technology to provide the merchant an anonymous account “token” which is used to verify the prepaid card and process your payment.

Lost your device? Take advantage of Samsung’s “Find My Mobile” and “Find My Watch” services to remotely lock or wipe sensitive information from your device.

Accepted almost anywhere

Use your prepaid card with Samsung Pay at most places that a credit or debit card may be tapped or swiped.

Samsung’s Magnetic Secured Transmission (MST) technology allows you to use your device to make purchases at almost any point-of-sale (POS) terminal in the world – that includes older models that only have magnetic stripe readers.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Which devices are compatible with Samsung Pay?
For the most up to date device list, please visit the Samsung website.
Do I need a mobile data or Wi-Fi connection to use Samsung Pay?
Samsung Pay requires an active internet connection when you add or remove cards and download your transaction history. You can connect via a Wi-Fi network or use your mobile data connection. When using Samsung Pay to make an in-store purchase, no internet connection is required. However, some networks will limit you to 10 transactions during a given period without internet access, after which Samsung Pay will require an active internet connection. We recommend connecting to the internet at least once per day to ensure Samsung Pay stays up to date.
How do I add my card to Samsung Pay?
Once installed, open the Samsung Pay app, tap Get Started, then enter and confirm a new PIN. If it's your first-time using Samsung Pay, you will be prompted to register a payment card. Tap Add Payment Card and follow the on-screen instructions or tap Home to skip this step until later. Samsung Pay comes preinstalled on compatible phones and can always be reinstalled if necessary.
How do I enable fingerprint or iris recognition on Samsung Pay?

Biometric authentication (fingerprint or iris recognition) can be enabled on your Samsung Pay account to add an extra layer of security.

To enable fingerprint or iris recognition, open the Samsung Pay app, tap Menu in the upper left corner, tap Settings, tap the switch next to either Fingerprint or Irises, then follow the on-screen instructions. If you choose not to enable biometric authentication, you may be required to set up a lock screen PIN for your phone.

Note: Iris recognition is only available on certain phones.

How do I use Samsung Pay?
When you're ready to pay, open the Samsung Pay app, tap Pay, then select your preferred card. Authenticate your identity by using your device's fingerprint scanner, scanning your iris, or entering your PIN. Next, hold the back of your phone up to the contactless payment terminal and wait for the beep to indicate that your purchase has been completed.
Where can I use Samsung Pay?
You can use Samsung Pay in-store at any contactless enabled terminal that accepts NFC (Near Field Communication) or MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) payments.
Will the card image on Samsung Pay match my physical card?
The payment card image displayed on the Samsung Pay app may not match your physical card. In these instances, Samsung Pay will use a graphical representation of your card instead. You can determine that your card information is accurate by verifying the card network (i.e., Visa, Mastercard, or American Express) and the last four digits.
Are there any fees for using the Samsung Pay App to make payments?
No. You are not charged any fees when using the app to make purchases. However, your mobile network provider may apply charges depending on your data plan.
How do I remove a payment card from Samsung Pay?
To remove a card, make sure you have an internet connection then open the Samsung Pay app on your phone. Tap Menu in the upper left corner then tap Cards. Select the card you want to remove, tap More Options > Delete card, then choose a reason for removing the card. To finalize the removal, tap Delete and enter your PIN or complete your device’s biometric authentication process.
If I remove a card from Samsung Pay will the physical card remain active?
Yes. Your physical card will remain active. Removing a payment card from Samsung Pay will only remove the payment information, including the token (digital card number), from the device. To suspend, disable, or replace your physical card, contact us using the phone number listed on the back.
If I wipe my device, what happens to my Samsung Pay app?

If you perform a factory data reset on your device, all payment details in the Samsung Pay app will be deleted, including your payment card number. To continue using Samsung Pay after your device has been reset, you will need to recomplete the initial setup and re-add your card information.

Note: The Samsung Pay app may need to be reinstalled after a factory reset for Galaxy S8s and up.

I’m having difficulty making payments using Samsung Pay. Why?

There could be several reasons:

  • There may be insufficient funds or credit on your card to complete the transaction.
  • Some merchants may not support Samsung Pay transactions above a certain dollar amount on their payment terminals.
  • You might be holding your phone incorrectly. The NFC and MST antennas could be near the top or bottom of your device.
  • You might not be waiting long enough for the beep or your device might need to be held closer to the payment terminal.
  • The merchant may not accept contactless payments.
What should I do if I still have questions or need assistance with Samsung Pay?
Please call us using the phone number listed on the back of your physical card.
